Poems - On Freedom - Group 6
i. I Have a Dream

I have a dream that one day
Black and white children play
Hand in hand, they shall say
Freedom is well on its way.

I have a dream that justice
Shall be upon us in this
Land of ours, and injustice
In the world replaced by peace.

I have a dream that freedom
Will at last to all of us come,
Bondage will be gone from
Our world, to freedom's drum.

I dream that Gentile and Jew
Children of earth, every hue
Together sang, together grew,
Songs of freedom, all they knew.

Proclaimed Martin Luther King
Songs of freedom let us sing
Emancipation we shall bring
From every mountain freedom ring.

The Negro spiritual of the past:
Free at last, free at last,
Thank God almighty we are free at last;
But wait and pause, not so fast.

I have yet another dream
I dream of a clear stream
Fish swimming in this stream
Of freedom will not dream.

In clear waters swimming fish
For clean waters do not wish.
I'd say their world is hellish
If clean water is their wish.

I have a dream a world will come
Where there is no song of freedom
No need to ring freedom from
Mountain, hill-top, village, home.

Where we breath freedom like air
Singing of freedom will not care
For freedom like air is there
Universally, all will share.

On Dr. King's shoulders all of us
Stand sure-footed to dream thus.
