Miscellaneous
Spirituality to the exclusion of the material we applaud
Seldom we see the nature of this fraud.
Soulless materialism they embrace, tooth and claw
Eyes looking down, they rake twig, hay and straw
Each considers other side's greener grass
Their only wish, to the other place simply pass.
Instead of having an international rift
It is better to make a global shift
All those who live in the West migrate to the East
And those in the East partake of the Western feast
Then each will experience the nature of the other beast
And be disillusioned when we expect it least. When are we going to realize that in the world we live
It is not enough to collect, nor enough to selflessly give
Soon will learn how our lives and souls uplift
By letting the material and spiritual into each other drift.© Shahriar Shahriari

An eye for an eye will make the world go blind
A life for a life, humanity in grave will find.
In the name of the Law, justice and fairness
To punish the transgressor, we too transgress.
This vicious cycle on itself will feed
This mentality devours its own seed,
If the loving God we ever heed
In breaking the cycle we will succeed.
We'll transform our world, only if we try
Not by taking an eye for an eye
But by letting go of all we see
And by loving our enemy.© Shahriar Shahriari

They say that God is one and God is all
Why would God upon this earth mankind install?
They say God is above, around, within
Why would God for man create friend and kin?
There can only be one reason for this creation
Lonely God wants the joy of communication.© Shahriar Shahriari

My friend once asked to wish him luck
By lightning not be struck.
I told my friend, "you are on track
Why be afraid of Thor's attack?"When your source drives your course
Don't put the cart before the horse;
And if in life you are stuck
Return to God, don't ask for luck.© Shahriar Shahriari

One afternoon myself I found
Inspired by a vision profound,
Secrets of the world to me did reveal
An invisible hand broke the seventh seal
I saw the whole world in one glance
To the music of the spheres would dance.
It was as if that invisible hand
Commanded me to take a stand
To teach and preach, shout, even scream
And awaken from our collective dream.
The invisible hand made my decision
I am now compelled by my vision
Preach and teach, scream and shout:
Everything's the same within and without
Man made is every division
Invisible Hand points to One Vision.© Shahriar Shahriari
